SCAD X Power House | Week 9 - Final Look

After the week 8 presentation, I got some feedback from our mentor which should be fixed during this week.

1. Fog Refinement

Our mentor suggested us use volumetric fog instead of footage, but due to the limitation of time, I can only use video footage instead. The footage is not long enough for the whole shot, so I should connect them seamlessly with Timeoffset, TimeClip node, and Oflow node, which slightly slows down the speed of the fog to match the whole timeline. Also. I change the merge (screen) to merge (over)


2. Face Tracking Effects

Last time I received 61 frames of cracking mask from my teammate, but the effects disappear so fast that we double the length of it to make the fading process more visible. The fading effects frame is 98 for now.

I use three color layers for this effect, black - purple - light purple

The black color is set as the base of the cracking and the two purple colors are to create glowing effects by using the Glow node and VolumeRay node

3. Reflection of the Obelisk

Based on the feedback we got, we use a ramp to subdue the reflection of the obelisk in Maya

I use the Ramp node and Noise node to give a random pattern alpha channel to the reflection mask, so it can blend with the sand better.
